Microneedling is a procedure that involves rolling very tiny needles over the skin to produce a series of micro-injuries. The idea is to stimulate the body’s natural collagen production to restore the elasticity of your skin while improving its texture, tone, and color.
PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma. PRP is a concentrated blend of plasma cells and specific growth factors that is created from your own blood. To create PRP, your provider will extract a small amount of your own blood and spin it in a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets in the blood. This platelet-rich mixture is then injected directly into an injured or diseased part of your body, where it releases growth factors to naturally stimulate the healing process and reduce your recovery time.
Microneedling with PRP can help with the following common skin concerns:
Sun damage (sun spots)
Age and brown spots
Fine lines and wrinkles
Stretch marks
Acne scarring
Uneven skin tone
Large pore size
Topical numbing cream is typically applied to the treatment area for 15 minutes prior to the procedure. One of our nurse practitioners or medical assistant will draw your blood to obtain the PRP for the procedure. The actual procedure typically takes 20-30 minutes depending on the size and number of areas treated and the severity of damage on the skin. While you may have some redness and swelling immediately after the procedure, there is usually minimal downtime for the patient.
Every patient is different, but for optimal results we recommend a series of 4 treatments. We will work with you for a customized treatment plan based on your particular skin issue and your goals. A consultation with one of our master estheticians is complimentary and recommended prior to this minimally invasive treatment.
